On 10th July Firefighters will join with thousands of workers across the South West who going on strike over pay and pensions. The FBU will join with members of the GMB, NUT, PCS, UNISON and Unite members who have all voted to take action. Since the government took office in 2010, pay for local government workers has fallen by 18% and more than 400,000 jobs have disappeared.

While the DCLG Fire Minister, Brandon Lewis and his team continue with the imposition of an unworkable pension scheme from April 2015 the FBU have been busy negotiating in Northern Ireland trying to get a more workable one.
