FIREFIGHTERS PENSION SCHEME – UPDATE

Over the past few weeks FBU officials have been trying to keep the pressure on the Government on the issue of the DCLG Fire Minister misleading Parliament.

INDUSTRIAL ACTION: PENSIONS IN THE FIRE SERVICE

Previously some members have been informed of action short of strike which they had been called upon to undertake.  

As the person authorised to make the call for industrial action I now confirm that this discontinuous industrial action commencing on the times and on the dates specified below will be:

The South West FBU are giving Members the opportunity to show solidarity and support to sacked FBU member Ricky Matthews by buying a limited edition T Shirt, the proceeds of which will go to Ricky and his family.

WELSH GOVERNMENT CONFIRMS IMPROVEMENT IN PENSION PROPOSALS

Members will be aware that Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have devolved powers in relation to firefighters pension proposals. The FBU has already explored this and achieved some improvements compared to the current DCLG proposals.

In Scotland the improvement means that;

24 HOUR STRIKE ON 25 FEBRUARY AFTER SHAM PENSION GUARANTEE
PROTEST IN LONDON AGAINST GOVERNMENT LIES

The union has issued a further call for strike action for firefighters in England for 24 hours from 7am on 25 February. This follows our campaign which has thoroughly exposed the sham ‘guarantee’ given in Parliament to enable Ministers to force through their unworkable proposals.

INDUSTRIAL ACTION: PENSIONS IN THE FIRE SERVICE

Firefighter members in England have previously been informed of action short of strike which they have been called upon to undertake.  This action short of strike shall continue until 07:00 hrs on 25 February 2015.
