Statement from the Fire Brigades Union regarding the death of Chief Fire Officer Kevin Pearson
We are all very sorry to hear of the death of Kevin Pearson, Chief Fire Officer of Avon Fire and Rescue service.
Although we were on different sides of the same fence, Kevin Pearson always appreciated and supported the role of the Fire Brigades Union and supported many of our aims, including on one famous occasion walking out with Firefighters as they took strike action against pension cuts.
We always found him to be approachable, honest and committed to a better and more equal fire and rescue service. We are struck by the many messages we have received from Avon firefighters who have stated their desire for CFO Pearson to be remembered as a Chief Fire Officer whom they respected. Our thoughts and solidarity are with Kevin's family, friends and everyone touched by his untimely death.
