Dear Sister/Brother
The coalition’s plans forcing public sector workers to pay for the economic mess caused by millionaire bankers and speculators in the city are hitting the headlines as our sister Trade Unions start to take industrial action to defend their pensions and to protect the services their members provide, in education and the civil service.
The day of strike action has been set for the 30th June and all across the South West rallies and marches are taking place as well as picket lines outside workplaces. As FBU Officials have been visiting watches and branches across the region the anger of our members, ordinary working people doing extraordinary jobs, at attacks on our pensions, our pay and the threat of job losses has been noticeably increasing.
It is vital for all workers in the Public Sector to stick together and fight for what is right, is it right that as well as a pay freeze, an increase in pension contributions, working longer and for less that we are reminded that we should be grateful that we have a job?
I would urge all FBU Members to attend your local rally, march or picket line to show your support for their fight as we will expect other workers to support FBU members when we have to take action.
Details of local events will be on this website next week.
