Dear Joanne
On behalf of all Firefighters and Control Room Staff in the South West could you pass on our solidarity and support to GWAS Unison members who have voted in such huge numbers to take industrial action over the imposition of shift changes by an employer who as clearly “lost the plot”.
Despite the Trust having agreed procedures for industrial relations and the settling of disputes for an employer to simply disregard these and attempt to impose new Terms and Conditions is an absolute disgrace and it is to the credit of Unison members that they are prepared to take Industrial Action in defence, not only of their Condition of Service but also the knock on effect on patients that such an imposition would have.
The Fire Brigades Union stand shoulder to shoulder with our colleagues in the ambulance service as we are all in an industry that puts the people we serve at the forefront of our working lives. It is a pity that the senior bureaucrats in both services don’t share that philosophy.
If you could pass on any details of events being held in the GWAS area in support of Ambulance Workers we will publicise and encourage our members to attend.
Yours in Solidarity
